FLORIDA ARBOR DAY

TGC Florida Arbor Day celebration stands as a cherished tradition, symbolizing our commitment to fostering a greener urban landscape.

Florida Arbor Day is celebrated on the third Friday in January.

National Arbor Day is celebrated the last Friday in April.

What Is Arbor Day?

Arbor Day is a time to recognize the significance of trees in providing oxygen, improving air quality, mitigating climate change, and enhancing the overall well-being of our planet. Beyond their environmental benefits, trees contribute to the aesthetic beauty of landscapes, provide shade, and create habitats for diverse wildlife. Whether we celebrate Florida Arbor Day in January or National Arbor Day, in April, the focus is on trees and the profound impact they have on our environment. Both days serve as an annual reminder of the crucial role these majestic beings play in our lives.

In celebration of Florida’s Arbor Day, we are encouraged to do our part in helping to reduce air pollution, conserve energy, and beautify the State of Florida by planting native trees. Planting native trees protects the environmental balance and beauty of the Sunshine State by preventing the spread of invasive plants and offsetting some of the potential impacts of climate change. Florida celebrates Arbor Day in January because many trees are dormant and lose less water through transpiration this time of year, making them easier to transplant without putting them through too much stress.
